SUMMARY:SIG - PSR 101: Precision Scoped Rifle
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nPrecision Scoped Rifle 101 is the foundational shooting class in the Precision Scoped Rifle series. This comprehensive three-day class begins the entry level precision scoped rifle shooter’s journey down the road to confidently hitting relatively small targets at distances out to 1\,000 yards. This class introduces and explains common terminology and nomenclature relative to scopes\, rifles\, and match grade ammunition. The concepts of minute-of-angle\, milliradians\, scope adjustments\, mounting scopes\, and data book usage are introduced\, thoroughly explained\, and applied. Great emphasis is placed on the shooter’s rifle being fitted to them and developing a “shot process” with which to apply to every shot. The student is taught the importance of recording in a data book even minute details relative to each engagement. Each day students are challenged to make progress and improvements graduating from 100\, to 200\, to 300-yard distances.\n\n\n\nExperience Requirements\nStudents are encouraged to attend Scopes\, but not mandatory. Students must be able to spend prolonged periods in the prone shooting position and participate in alternate positional shooting positions. Open to all. Background checks are required unless the student is a sworn law enforcement officer\, corrections officers\, private licensed security\, or US military personnel.\n\n\n\nCourse Outline\nUpon successful completion of this course\, the student will be able to:\n\n Develop an understanding of terminology and nomenclature of scopes and precision rifles.\n Develop an understanding of concepts and minute-of-angle and milliradians.\n Develop basic understanding of external ballistics relative to shooting over long distance.\n Develop basic understanding of atmospheric influences on external ballistics.\n Develop understanding of scope setup and function.\n Develop understanding and ability to properly adjust scope for impact shift on demand.\n Develop each shooter’s fundamentals of marksmanship.\n Develop ability to understand and apply the “shot process” to each shot.\n Develop understanding of use and purpose of data book.\n Introduce positional shooting with scoped rifle.\n Demonstrate cleaning and maintenance of scope and rifle.\n Acquire a shooting foundation for all future Precision Scoped Rifle classes and applications.\n\n\n\nEquipment List\n\n *Precision scoped rifle with sling*\n Spotting scope (optional)\n Rangefinder (optional)\n Rifle cleaning equipment\n Field notebook and pencils\n Clothing suitable for training in any weather\n Hydration system\n Sunscreen and bug spray\n Hat with a brim\n Wraparound eyewear\, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses\n Earmuffs and earplugs\n\nTuition includes free loan of firearms\, holsters\, safety glasses and hearing protection at the Epping\, NH and New Smyrna Beach\, FL  locations.\n\n*We strongly recommend you bring your own Precision Scoped Rifle with sling for this course.
