DESCRIPTION:Overview\nThis introductory level course provides the student with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to safely handle\, load\, fire\, and clear common semi-automatic rifles. Time is spent both in the classroom and on the firing range in a comfortable learning environment. This is a holistic and comprehensive course designed to introduce students to the world of rifles.\n\nExperience Requirements\nNone.\n\nCourse Outline\nUpon successful completion of this course\, students will be able to:\n\nApply Safe Gun Handling in any environment (regarding the AR platform specifically)\nUnderstand rifle parts\, nomenclature\, and support equipment considerations\nProperly wear and use slings\nDemonstrate the basic fundamentals of marksmanship\nPerform rifle manipulation skills (loading\, unloading\, clearing)\nAnalyze\nUnderstand and utilize the basic concept of height over bore (offset)\nProperly conduct bolt lock reloads\nShoot a group using the prone position\nRecognize and apply\nDisassemble\, clean\, and maintain a modern sporting rifle\n\n\n\nEquipment List\n\nSemi-automatic carbine (provided by SIG SAUER Academy)\n\nTuition includes FREE loan of a carbine\, magazines\, mag pouches\, eye and hearing protection\nNO personal firearms\n\n\n3 magazines (minimum)\nMagazine pouches\nSturdy belt at least 1.5” wide\nFootwear suitable for rapid movement and turning\nClothing suitable for training in any weather\nShooting gloves (optional based on student comfort)\nKnee and elbow pads (optional based on student comfort)\nWraparound eyewear with polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription\nElectronic hearing protection\, earmuffs or earplugs\n\nAmmo\n\nEstimated round count: 220 rounds rifle\nLead core ammunition to be used on steel only\nNo green/brown tip\, armor piercing\, or surrogate rounds to be used on steel at any time\nAmmunition is available for purchase from the Epping\, New Smyrna Beach\, and Colorado facilities only\n\nFor all Colorado rifle courses\, please DO NOT pre-purchase rifle ammunition – 9mm will be used\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER HERE
